NARRATIVE OF BOOK 2 OF COTTON'S SCRAPBOOK

Page 1 1940 and The Thomson boys meet in Columbus, Ohio, where George lives. A rare opportunity for all four to get together with their Mother. Then in East Lansing in 1941 with some photographs of Cotton's boys, their dog, Smokey, and Ruth plus a nice shot of their home at 643 Grove Street.
Page 2 1941 & 1942. Jim & Dave in costume for a play and Jim catches a nice fish in the Red Ceder River but he doesn't eat it due to contamination. One of Tom's early girl friends and some nice shots of Bompa & Nana. Also, the only known photograph of Tom in his band uniform where he played a darn good drum. Finally, a nice group photograph at Bompa's cottage.
Page 3 In 1944 and some photographs of friends of Pop's but I am not exactly sure what relationship they have. Also, several good shots of George and Cotton, and then with Jim, Dave, and Smokey. A nice photograph of Daisy and one of the three boys with the nextdoor neighbor's son who is in the Army. Also, Bob, Cotton's brother, and wife at Mission Beach, CA.
Page 4 Spring of 1946 and a visit to Holland, MI to see the tulip farms with Cotton's mother. Tom & Marj are married in 1948 and their 1st son, Douglas is born in 1949.
Page 5 1949 and more photographs of 1st grandchild and parents. Pop shows off his tomatoes.
Page 6 1949 & 1950. Dave gets an infected foot and misses part of the 1949-50 high school basketball season. Pop get a new Chevy and wins a turkey for Thanksgiving. A pretty good snow storms hits that winter and Dave has to do lots of shoveling. Jim is in the ROTC at Michigan State College & Douglas' first birthday.
Page 7 1950. We meet the Anderson's, who run the Leland Lodge where Pop holds many summer conferences for his job. Dave's class goes on a Senior trip to Niagara Falls and Cotton and Ruth go along as chaperons.
Page 8 A bit more of Dave's Senior Trip, his graduation and a visit by Mother Thomson to see Tom, Marj and Doug, her greatgrandson. This is the year that Pop, Ruth, and the Watson Parkers vacation in the Stier Small Shack in Leland.
Page 9 As with any vacation, Ruth's work is never done as there is always laundry to do. Then a visit by Tom's family and Mother Thomson and eveyone goes to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes to ride the Dunemobiles up and over the dunes by Lake Michigan.
Page 10 1950. Ruth is appointed as Nationality Communities Director for the Lansing YWCA and spend a great deal of time there. Uncle Ralph visits and gets to see all of Cotton's family. Jim is in the Air Force and traveling around the country. But does get home once in a while for a photograph shoot with his two brothers.
