After the tour of the Residenz we walked through Wurzburg, heading for the bridge across the river, so we could visit the Fortress or Castle of Marienberg, the format residence of the Prince-Bishops.

It was not far, less than two miles and the walk was easy that is until be reached the other side of the river and had to climb the hill to the fortress.

The view from the Castle was breathtaking! I can't imagine why the Prince-Bishop moved from here. Probably because the Castle was too small!

The Residenz can be seen from the Castle but the photograph doesn't really show it clearly. After we toured the Castle and walked back down the hill, across the bridge to Hardy's car, we headed south towards Rothenburg. On the way we stopped many times to look at the sights, such as this fine church in a small town on the was south.

I just couldn't help but take photos of various building we saw along the way. This one is, well, it speaks for itself. Every town along the way was interesting. So different from American town. You are driving through the countryside and all of a sudden, a quaint town appears over the next hill.
