Hardy, David and Jeanne on the left and on the right, we all take a break at a great cafe for lunch, Jüorg, David, Jeanne, Christa, and Hardy.
One of the many attractions at the Strand are the artists. They set up in the courtyard and streets, which are blocked off from traffic, and paint and hope that someone will buy their paintings.
One fascinating sights in all of Hamburg is the Sunday market down at the harbor. Vendors, selling all kinds of things, such as small trees, flowers, fish, meat, candy, fruit & vegetable, etc. come here to sell and thousands come to buy. It is a mad house and a sight to see so if you ever get to Hamburg, please take a Sunday morning off and go to the harbor market, which I believe, starts about 7AM till Noon or so.
On the left, I stop to take a photograph of the Police van blocking the street that the vendors set up on. You have to park some distance away and walk into the market, which may contain a hundred or more vendors.
I took the photograph on the left to not only show the crowd there but the apartment building. On the right is a flower vendor.
One of the many fruit stands on the left and a fish stand on the right. Huge fish are available!
The crowds are unbelievable! On the right is a most unusual fruit & flower stands - the owners stand up and start to sell one item which they put in a box. If there are no takers, then start adding one other item at time until someone buys the box full. Generally, it works as in about 20 minutes of watching we never saw a box that didn't sell. People wait until the add enough items to make it a bargain to the buyer.
