JEANNE AND I - BOOK 1, PAGE 5

Jeanne and I celebrate our first Christmas together in 1979. The three stocking over the fireplace are for Jeanne, Me, and the most important member of our small family, Sam.

We go to Aspen to ski and this is a real experience for Jeanne as she has never skied on such long runs. She learned to ski in Ohio where the longest run was about 1,000 feet and the vertical drop was about 300 feet. In Aspen, Colorado, the runs can be 3 MILES long and the with a drop of 3,500 feet. Needless to say, she really enjoys the skiing in Aspen. The photo on the right show the "3rd mountain" in Aspen, Highlands, where few people ski as it is almost all expert runs. We never went there to ski.

Jeanne takes my photo and then we ski the "nice, easy" runs at Buttermilk. But that will all change in a day or so and for sure the next time we come back to Aspen. No more Buttermilk!

Jeanne's granddaughter, Holly, in 1979. On the right, Jeanne, Chris (my son), and I get ready for a 1/2 mile run at the Scioto Downs Race Track (Trotting).

I manage to catch Jeanne and Chris and they approach the finish line. But the event of the year was Jeanne's makeup for Halloween. She would open the door for the kids and scare the heck out of them!

I CAN'T FIND ANY PHOTOGRAPHS OF JEANNE WHEN SHE ENTERED AND RAN THE INITIAL COLUMBUS BANK ONE MARATHRON IN 1980. I RECALL IT WAS A NICE DAY FOR A "RUN", I.E. NOT HOT NOR COLD. JEANNE FINISHED THE MARATHRON AND RECEIVED A NICE, LIGHTWEIGHT JACKET AS DID EVERYONE WHO RAN. I STILL HAVE THE JACKET IN 2022!
