Anna Ruby Falls is on route 356 just north of Cleveland, Georgia by the Unicoi State Park. It is the most accessible falls you will find in the southeast as the parking lot is about 100 yards from the falls. The trail to the falls is slightly uphill but paved. It follows the river to the falls and walking the trail gives you many interesting sites.
This falls is a "must see" for anyone traveling through Georgia.
In October we travel to Myrtle Beach and set up a nice site in the Huntington State Park just south of town. This is a great time to be here as the weather is cool but sunny and there are very few tourists. So we have our choice of campsites.
The boardwalk extends quite far into the marsh and there are birds and animals to see. As we returned to land Sam, for some unusal reason, fell or jumped off the boardwalk and landed about 6' below in the soft, dark, mushy ground. Fortunately we had his harness and leach on so we, after the shock of seeing him disappear over the edge, pull him up. Boy, was he muddy and wet. We had to wash him off outside the camper, which has an outside shower head just for things like this. Then it was drying him off or at least as much as we could. He spent a long time after then "cleaning" himself.
Lucky for Sam that there were no gators where he fell off the boardwalk. They all seemed to "sun" themselves on the banks of the causeway.
One morning we got up early to catch the sunrise. What a nice site to see! The beach is quite nice, wide open and very long. You can walk for miles but we keep it to a minimum due to having Sam along.
Sam really enjoys roaming the beach especially where the tall grass is growning on the small dunes. On our way back home we again plan our route so we can take a ferry.
