Vet Visit

When the attendant told us we could take the kitties home with us on Tuesday, a day early, we both were delighted. But we noticed that both kitties seemed to be sneezing, which the attendant told us probably was a respiratory infection that is common in animal shelters.

As soon as we got home we called our vet and, surprisingly, we were able to get them into to him that afternoon. Our vet, Dr. Stringer, is a great vet and he was very surprised to see we had two kittens as he knew how deeply we were effected by losing Sam. On the way into see Dr. Stringer we weighted each kitten and found that Peanut was 2.4 lbs and Cali was 2.7 lbs.

The kittens had an upper respiratory infection and Dr. Stringer give us some medicine to give then and told us to keep the kittens away from Speedy until the infection was gone or Speedy could get it too.

Much to our surprise when Dr. Stringer was examining the kittens he told us that both were males! And they both seemed about the same age, two months or so. We talked to him about neutering the kittens as if we took them back to the Shelter there was a chance that would pick up the respiratory infection again and we didn't want that to happen.

So the first few weeks with us would be spent in our sun room as that was the one room that was central to the house, had windows so they could easily look out, and large enough for two young kittens to play in with all the cat toys we still had around from Sam and Speedy.
