A YEAR ON THE ROAD IN OUR MOTORHOME
June, 1991 to June, 1992

BOOK 1/PAGE 6

The skagway 4th of July parada was great - and many people from the cruise ship also took up positions on both side of the street to watch it. The parade only lasted about 15 minutes but standing there in the cold, it was about 50F I believe, everyone enjoyed it.

That afternoon we took a small plane to Glacier Bay National Park where we had reservations for the night. On the way out from skagway we were able to see many sights, such as the skagway harbor where the cruise ships dock.

The scenery along the way to Glacier Bay was "out-of-sight". The waterfall here is just one of many along the way but more would have been seen if we had gone back along the road towards Canada. I was fortunate in being able to sit in the co-pilot seat with a great view all the way.

Most of this photographs were taken by Jeanne, who was sitting in the back of the plane. Although the photo on the right seems close to the mountains I can assure you that we were not.

I believe that the shot of the rivers below was when we were nearly to Glacier Bay and the one on the right was taken a few minutes before we landed.

That is our plane, the small one. The pilot, a very nice woman, is taking our baggage out. The next day we, and manyu others, boarded the ship for the all day trip to the glacier fields. The first glaicer we came upon was the Reid Glacier. The weather was pretty nice but cold, really cold. We both had ski hats, shirts, sweaters, and jackets on. They were needed as we stood out on the desk the hold way so we could have a good spot to see from and take pictures. The only bad thing about the trip were some people from overseas who constantly were talking, loudly, in their language, and since I was taking videos their conservations were captured.
