A YEAR ON THE ROAD IN OUR MOTORHOME
BOOK 3/PAGE 2
The indians catch a great deal of fish in an hour or so that we were watching. They are fishing just upstream from the bridge over the gorge that constricts the flow of water.
June, 1991 to June, 1992
Although the indians are not suppose to sell their catch, Jeanne prevails on one of them to sell her this huge salmon for $5. She and Sam enjoy dinner that evening. As we continue on south we come to the Fraizer Canyon, a really neat place to drive through. The road is on the eastern side and the railroad on the western side.
About 50 miles from the US-Canadian border is the town of Hope. This is the location of the movie, Rambo! Naturally, there is an exhibit at the site and I can't resist having Jeanne take this photograph. A short distance away is a campground that has this beautiful water fall a short distance from our campsite.
By this time it was September and we had been on the road for three months and it seemed like 3 days!
We didn't stop in Vancouver but headed south to the USA. The State of Washington's Mt. Baker is a sight to see but not nearly as impressive as the mountains we have seen in Canada and Alaska. We take a short ferry ride across the Pessession Sound to Everett where the Boeing plant is located. There we take the tour and it is impressive - the size of the manufacturing space all under one roof.
Boeing has planes in all stages of assembly and most are 747s. We then drive down to Seattle and take the tour of the space needle like any good tourist would do. I am not one for heights but go up anyway. The elevator ride takes 45 seconds and then out onto the observation deck which to me feels like it is tilted towards the railing. But a great 360 degree view of Seattle.
Seattle is nice to view from the needle but the traffic, like any big city, is fierce. We head south to Ocean City where there is a Coast-To-Coast campground right on the ocean. Not too many people are there and we get a site a short distance from the ocean. Sam is tied outside and we soon discover he is entranced with two rabbits, obviously pets, near by. He has a great time staring at them and they don't seem to mind at all.
