GERMANY, JUNE-JULY, 1997 - INTRODUCTION - PAGE 3
The church on the left, in the background, is the one we visited. And the street scene is typical of Hamburg. On the right is the town hall, which is over 100 years old and was recently restored and is once again open to the public.
The staircase, on the left, is impressive as is the entire town hall. On the right is one of the many rooms that is richly decorated.
A closer view of the room above and on the right is just one of the many grand murals on the ceiling and walls.
After we finished touring the town hall, we stopped for lunch at a nice cafe on the water just in the front left of the town hall. Then it was on to the subway to explore some more.
This tower is a landmark in Hamburg and sits in the middle of a park. We are headed there to ride to the top and look over the city. It may be hard to notice in the photograph on the right but there are many bikes with the parked cars as many people go back and forth to work on their bikes.
Breathtaking view from the tower! The park that the tower is in is shown on the right. Notice the lake as this will be seen on the next page from a different angle and for a different reason.
