A YEAR ON THE ROAD IN OUR MOTORHOME
June, 1991 to June, 1992

BOOK 2/PAGE 2

The eskimos had many crafts for sale after the song and dance. Jeanne purchased the "face" that is being held by the artists. The "face" is made from seal skin and fur. On the right is Barrow's City Hall.

The photo on the left is a typical street in Barrow, dirt, and the larger building are stores or community buildings. On the right is the Top Of The World Hotel where we and the rest of the tourists stayed. It was a very confortable room considering the location and the effort it must have taken to construct it.

The hotel provided everyone with large, warm jackets so we could wander around part of the town close by and get down to the Artic Ocean for some photographs. Jeanne in right on the edge of the Artic Ocean. On the right is a small cafe but I can't recall if we went in.

Another typical street in Barrow and on the right is the midnight sun over the Artic Ocean. I believe this photo was taken by Jeanne about 11:30PM.

The one restaurant at the Top Of The World was Pepe's, a Mexican restaurant, and Jeanne really doesn't like Mexican food but, surprisingly, the food was very good and not all of it was Mexican. After breakfast we stood by the Ocean without coats for a "photo opt".

Yes, Barrow does have a college, albiet a small one. We are getting set to leave for the airport for the short flight to Prudhoe Bay.
