Since my work at the Senior Open Qualifier the SCCA asked me to work some of their other tournaments. At these tournaments I met other Rules Officals who worked different tournaments.
FURMAN INTERCOLLEGIATE
- An annual invitations of colleges golf teams that was held at Furman University Golf Course. 54 hole men's college tournament hosted by Furman University. There is a team tourmament, best four scores out of five team members scores are used, and individual scores
Due to the number of college and universities invited it was necessarty to have two starting times, 7:30 AM and 1:00 PM with players teeing off on boht nines. This made for a long day for the Rules Officials.
The tournament is generaly help in the early spring which can result in varying weather, e.g. temperature, rain. There were days when wearing of gloves and winter jackets were necessary and, sometimes, thermal underwear. The Rules Officials were all volunteers and only received their meals and some reimbursement of travel.
hURRICANE JUNIOR GOLF TOUR
- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour hosted over 350 nationally ranked events in 28 states in 2021. HJGT began in 2007 with a few tournaments in Florida. It first expanded into Georgia and South Carolina. The founder of the HJGT contacted the SCGA looking for officials to work their first tournament at the Walker Course, Clemson, SC. The SCGA recommended me and, when contacted by the HJGT, I agreed to be their 1st Rules Oficial in South Carolina. In 2022 there were 10 HJGT tournaments in South Carolina and the tour had expanded nationally, mainly on in Eastern US. Californai, and Arizona.
CHANTICLEER NATIONAL SENIOR INVITATIONAL
- The Chanticleer National Senior Invitational is a multiday event scheduled for Wednesday through Friday in the sumer months at the Chanticleer Golf Club, Greenville, SC. It has become the premier senior tournment is the country. Chanticleer was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and is one to the top private clubs in South Carolina.
The tournament will be held at Chanticleer Golf Club in Greenville, SC. There are three divisions: (1) z55-64, (2) 65+, and (3) Legends 70+ (which plays at the Riverside course.
Volunteer Rules Officials generally rove over six holes. Tee times begin about 8 AM and may end about noon.
