NARRATIVE OF BOOK 3

USA Map Route

Canada/Alaska Map Route

Here are two maps that will show you the route we took, more or less as the maps are not detailed enough to show the actual highways.
Page 1 We take a six hour ferry ride from Prince Rupert to the Queen Charlotte Islands and spend several days exploring the main, beautiful island. Then it is back on the road from Prince Rupert south towards Vancouver. On the way we watch the Wet'suwet'en indians fish for salmon at a gorge near Moricetown.
Page 2 Jeanne buys a huge salmon from an indian and she and Sam have it for dinner that evening. Then it on toward Vancouver. We stop at Hope where the 1st Rambo movie was shot and then it is on back into the States where we stop at the huge Boeing factor before visiting Seattle.
Page 3 We move on to Olympic National Park where we see the wonderful coast line.
Page 4 The Northwest has several famous mountains, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Saint Helens. Of the two, Mt. Saint Helens is absolutely a wonder - trees from miles around are burned and all laying on the ground with the tops pointing away from Mt. Saint Helens which blew its top on May 18, 1980.
Page 5 A few more photographs of Mt. Saint Helens and then it is the drive back to the coast. We drive down the Columbia River gorge which has some specular water falls. Then on the coast once again.
Page 6 The coast of both Oregon and Washington have many tidal pools full of sea life and the shore, again, is just as spectacular as those we have seen previously.
Page 7 After traveling miles on the coast we head inland to Crater Lake, an extinct volcano that collapsed and is now filled with water, i.e. a lake. With no other visitors, a blue sky, and no wind, Crater Lake is a natural wonder. Jeanne manages to put together two photographs to produce her own wide angle view of the Lake.
Page 8 We head West from Carter Lake back to the coast where we find amazing scenery on drive down toward San Francisco. Along the way we spend time exploring the Giant Redwood Forrest.
Page 9 More photographs of the Redwood Forrest, coastal scenery, and then we arrive in San Francisco to find the Golden Gate bridge socked in with fog. A few shots of Pebble Beach Golf Course, no we didn't play as too expensive, and then on to San Diego and their fabulous zoo.
Page 10 More San Diego zoo, then on to Tijuana via the Tijuana Tolley. Then its time to head east toward Phoenix but we stop along with way to visit Death Valley.
